Metropolis's 2011 Next Generation: NetZero Building Retrofit
Booth # 2397

A young team of architects and engineers, from HOK Washington DC and Vanderweil Washington DC and Boston, collaborate on a proposal to renovate a 1950s GSA building in LA, bringing it to Zero Environmental Impact. The project won the 2011 Metropolis Next Generation Prize for its smart uses of existing technologies (from PVs to water harvesting) and experimental technologies such as algae farms on the building's facade that harness the power of nature to clean the air. The team proves that 91 percent of the building's current energy use can be cut through smart architecture, including carefully angled skylights, green roofs, water harvesting, and light-sensitive interior space planning; the remaining 9 percent of the energy can be produced by renewables and human behavior changes. Not a drop of oil needed. Renderings and a video of the NetZero Building Retrofit from the winning project will be on display in the Metropolis Booth.

Viscusi Group Offers: “Headhunters Secrets to Getting a Raise as the Economy Recovers!”
Booth # 1526

Industry Headhunters Stephen Viscusi and Rod Larsen give NeoCon East attendees one-on one advice!
Stephen Viscusi says, “A carefully prepared, up-to-date RESUME is my ‘secret’ to a RAISE when your annual review comes up. Think about it, salaries have been frozen or even reduced, so when your review comes up you need to pull out all the stops to land the biggest raise possible.” Why does this help? Chances are your boss may have forgotten your credentials, or you may even have a new supervisor, different then the person who hired you. So come to your review and explain to your supervisor that you thought it would be helpful for them to see your current resume. Explain that you have prepared the resume for them…not for a new job! The resume reminds your supervisor where you went to school, what previous experience you have, and best of all, you present your current responsibilities, experiences, training and accomplishments.
“Believe me, the best kept secret is to present your current resume to your boss because it subconsciously sends many different messages to him or her, and most of all shows your value. That equates to dollars and cents and you’ll get your biggest raise ever!” Stephen Viscusi says, “I guarantee it!”
The Viscusi Group will accept your resumes and meet with you to give career advice - from 10 AM to 4 PM daily.
