We know your time is valuable and you may not be able to leave the Baltimore Convention Center during NeoCon East to take in an off-site experiential tour. Nevertheless, there are so many great projects in the area that we wouldn’t want you to miss which is why we’re bringing all this great design directly to you through our VIRTUAL TOUR SERIES. Select design firms will be showcasing various projects through short, visual presentations giving you the opportunity to “virtually’ explore some of the region’s most interesting projects! Check out the below schedule of programs and be sure to swing by the THEATER on the show floor to take in a few virtual tours. If you can’t see it in person, it’s the next best thing!
Each virtual tour presentations will be approximately 20 minutes and will take place in the theater on the show floor.

1414 Key Highway: Going Green on a Budget [TR1]
Date/Time: Wednesday October 28, 10 a.m.
Highlights: The once dark industrial space in the Mangels Herold Building was transformed into an open space infused with light, by strategically replacing glass block in fill with large storefront windows and using translucent panels as walls for day lighting. This adaptive use is LEED for Commercial Interiors Gold Certified and boasts a variety of sustainable attributes from bamboo flooring and reclaimed carpet to open team meeting spaces.

Our Next Generation Workplace [TR2]

From the moment RTKL selected 2101 L Street as their new office space, they committed themselves to using the entire experience as a laboratory for their design talent, as a reflection of our collaborative culture and as a tangible expression of our commitment to environmental stewardship. RTKL is eager to share their design with you!

PNC Harbor East branch in Baltimore, Maryland [TR3]
Date/Time: Thursday October 29, 9 a.m.
At PNC Harbor East, Gensler had a unique opportunity to create a PNC Green Branch within a redeveloped turn-of the-century furniture warehouse. Gensler’s design infused salvaged material from the building renovation with PNC’s standard kit-of-parts to create a unique banking environment. Through creative design and reuse of materials, the building’s history becomes tangible.

Smithsonian in Landover, Maryland [TR4]
Date/Time: Thursday October 29, 10 a.m.
Highlights: In this project, an existing warehouse was transformed into a modern support center that provides collection housing and support services for the Smithsonian, consolidating the programs from five previously separate locations into one facility. In addition to the complex technical and security requirements, Gensler was challenged with creating human-scale wayfinding and a sense of community in a space equivalent to eight acres on one level.

Gensler Office in Baltimore, Maryland [TR5]
Date/Time: Thursday, October 29, 2 p.m.
Highlights: Gensler saw the opportunity to transform the way they work through the design of their new space. The process demonstrated a true integration of design strategy, sustainable strategy and brand strategy and as a result, sustainable practices are woven into the function, character and performance of this new space.

Cassidy & Pinkard in Washington, DC [TR6]
Date/Time: Thursday, October 29, 3 p.m
Highlights: Gensler’s primary directives for creating Cassidy & Pinkard’s new space involved developing a comprehensive design direction based on the company culture, environment and brand. The new space needed to be impressive while at the same time classic, functional and high quality using timeless finishes. Framed views and subtle architectural gestures create a museum like space giving each visitor a unique experience
