Please describe the inspiration behind the creation and/or theme of your design concept.
DBI is pleased to present our GSA Prime Design competition entry. Our inspiration is to create a collection of modern office spaces using some of the latest, hippest products on the GSA Schedule. The booth showcases progressive design concepts for conversation areas and coffee bars, as well as traditional meeting areas - with a twist, of course. DBI's design combines the trendiest furniture available on the GSA Schedule with chic fabrics, carpet and lighting. Special attention is also paid to sustainability, which is always in style.

What distinguishes your design concept from others? What makes your design unique?
DBI aims to inspire designers and architects to break from the notion that most products on the GSA Schedule are traditional and conservative. This design demonstrates that some of the latest products available on the market can be incorporated into current design trends.

What manufacturers and product lines are represented within your booth design?
Elements selected for the design include modern products such as movable wall panels (Viceversa by Teknion), a sofa from Jofco's Collective Lounge Series, an HBF Nero Series lounge chair, Lipse side chairs by Davis, Martini Table by Bernhardt, mini stools from Jofco's Collective Motion Series, Enea cafe table and chairs and Ripple bench all from Coalesse, a Prismatique Vidro conference table and Contessa chairs by Teknion. Carpet tiles are by Interface, fabrics are by Maharam, Design Tex, HBF and Teknion. Lighting is by Alliance Lighting, and signage by ABC Imaging.

Our design seeks to portray GSA as a one stop shop as symbolized by the single, stand alone consultants station. All information concerning thousands of products will be revealed under one canopy offering clients convenience, answers, and, ultimately, peace of mind. After visiting the GSA consultants, clients can relax at our oasis and enjoy the tranquility. In keeping with last year's theme, all products used to bring our concept to reality are sustainable products, and our creation employs abstracted organic shapes - petal/leaf images, water illusions, etc.

What distinguishes your design concept from others? What makes your design unique?
The cobalt blue portion of our design will be introduced only through projections and special flooring effects thereby bringing our piece into the realm of interiors as atmosphere, feeling, and personal experience as opposed to the physical environment solely establishing the space. The flooring effect is shown creating the feeling of water at our oasis. There will also be cobalt light projections behind the curtains and into the white canopy as well washing the neutral elements randomly with a soothing glow. Please use your imagination and enjoy!

What manufacturers and product lines are represented within your booth design?
Herman Miller, Design Tex, ALKs flooring, and Stone Source Flooring have all graciously agreed to contribute to our GSA Booth effort.

The corporate meeting environment has become impersonal and rushed. With the ecomomy changing daily and technology altering our every day work life, bringing people face to face for meetings is crucial now more than ever. Studies show that 85% of human communication is non-verbal. Personal meetings promote creative exchanges, establish rapport, and build good will and morale which in the long run equal success.

What distinguishes your design concept from others? What makes your design unique?
By creating two different meeting environments, the user can choose between a “typical” conference table setting or a casual discussion area to meet with their clients. Even in the largest of cities, our concept brings the meeting environment back to the days of face to face communication and simplicity in the work space.
